One and only experience
Cocoroom is a community-based café and guesthouse. We give you a fantastic opportunity to meet various people and to enrich your life in Japan. Cocoroom organises a wide range of social and art activities. We monthly do the nightwatch for homeless people in this area. We operate “Kamagasaki University of Arts,” providing lectures and workshops about astronomy, poetry, music and gamelan (Indonesian instrument) etc. It’s for free to anyone (donation welcome!). Cocoroom also offers Japanese home-made meals at a reasonable price. Join in our breakfast / lunch / dinner, and enjoy the conversation with tourists, staffs and local people!
Guesthouse made by “Everyone”
The Guesthouse itself is an artwork created by “everyone,” local people, volunteers, artists and passers-by. Rooms, corridors, stairs and garden, every single piece is not only unique and creative, but also has a story about how the work is made out.

The room is filled with works by a Japanese modern artist, Yasumasa Morimura. Cocoroom supported Morimura’s work portraying Lenin in 2007, since then we’ve jointly organised art workshops. Poems on the wall are written by Mr Sakashita. He graduated a university and made a family, but his wife died. Then he became alcohol addicted and came to Kamagasaki. By participating in Cocoroom’s poem workshop, he started to express himself.
